Lata Mangeshkar

I heard this song first in a taxi in Kathmandu; it was playing on an FM station. Initially, I thought it was a Madan Mohan song; it is tuned as a ghazal, and has a close proximity to the maestro’s signature style. A google search hardly helped. The song is as extinct as a dodo it seems. A fellow from some university in London had it with him; he uploaded it on his site and I had a lucky chance to listen to it in peace. Unfortunately, before I could download it, he removed it from his site. Rhicha gave me the song later on through mail. A few days later, I bought a bunch of Lata didi MP3’s - the song was present in that too.

After a lot of effort I learnt the song is composed by Ravi (and written by him as well) and is from an obscure film GHATNA.

A very soft and melodious number, it is a must hear for all.
